When Should I Schedule an AC Tune Up?

Here at Superior Heating and Cooling, we take ac maintenance seriously! Regular maintenance of your ac system ensures that it stays at peak performance. When is the best time to schedule service? We’ll detail that below:

When to Schedule an AC Tune up?

You should maintain your ac unit before the extreme Alabama summers hit! Residential and commercial ac units should be serviced in the spring, just before the summer kicks in. Anything that needs attention will be repaired so the system can make it through the summer.

Scheduling maintenance during the less extreme spring season allows you to get ahead of the blistering summer months and sets your unit up for success.

What are signs my ac system needs to be serviced?

Knowing the signs to look for can help you decide it’s time to have your ac serviced, so you can schedule ac maintenance as it’s needed. You can keep your unit running well if you contact us for the following issues:

  • AC is making noise: If your AC is making a loud grinding, grating squealing, terrible banging, or some other unusual noise, that’s a strong indication something is wrong and needs to be serviced promptly.

  • Poor Efficiency: Is your AC not keeping up? Is it set on 72 and holding strong at 79? That is a sign of reduced efficiency! Call if your home is hot even with the AC running constantly, or the thermostat reading isn’t accurate based on how warm it feels in the home.

  • Older Systems: Older ac systems should be maintained more frequently. They can be more prone to issues, however, regular tune ups can help to extend your units service years. Sometimes, you may save money replacing your existing older unit with a newer unit with a high SEER rating. What is a SEER rating?

  • Frequent Repairs: Multiple repairs may mean your unit needs to be replaced. Many outdated systems start to fail multiple times before they stop working entirely. Our techs will determine if repairing the unit will do or if it is time for a replacement. If you are looking to replace, consider our financing options found here.

  • Pricey Power Bills: If you do not adjust your ac often, your energy bill shouldn’t vary much from month to month, except in the case of an extreme heat wave. However, if your unit is running less efficiently, you may see a sudden jump in your power usage. Our techs can verify if your unit is to blame for the large increase on your power statement.

  • Weak Air Flow: If your air flow is weak, there could be a fan issue or clogged filter. Other possible problems could be a blocked duct. Our service techs can identify and resolve the problem!
